The Nokia 6585 is a tri-band CDMA based mobile. Its looks are the same as its GSM counterpart known as the 6610. The 6585 boasts of superiorly impressive looks and that is not all. The functions are even more impressive. To top it off, the weight is a mere 88gms. The phone has been fitted with a color LCD which has the capability of showing 4096 colors with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. The antenna is internal; this complements the styling of the 6585 superbly and is also responsible for the excellent voice clarity.

Equipped with a 780 mAh , Li-Ion battery the 6585 gives a talk time of 2.20 hours along with a standby of 233 hours. Navigation through the menus is by means of the four way navigation keys. Phone book capacity is a good 500 contacts. Consider the fact that the handset also allows you to store multiple numbers for each contact and the overall capacity is really good. The user has the option of selecting from 35 ring tones (preset) or he may also download customized ring tones (available on this website also). The 6585 allows storage of 10 customized ring tones. Polyphonic ring tones (16 chords) are also supported.

There are lots of features in this phone, let me start with the standardized ones. The standard meaning the functions that are present in all the phones. There is the Alarm & Calculator. Surprisingly there is no calendar included. A useful function to store all those birthdays, anniversaries an little notes. A Nokia phone always places great emphasis on the personalizable features. Accordingly, the 6585 also has changeable cover panels, which will perfectly complement your dress for the evening. This data capable phone also has a GPS service. A note of caution here, if you don't feel the need for this feature then you are better of turning it off; will certainly boost the battery performance. PC Synchronization is possible. This can be achieved either by use of the Infra red port or even the USB; both of which have been installed in the handset.

Since Java (J2ME) enjoys full support in the 6585, the user does not have to depend on the manufactured to provide his required applications. The required softwares can be simply downloaded and then if the need be, deleted and/ or replaced. High-speed data transfers can be achieved by using the CDMA 2000 wireless data transfer technology. Voice based commands such as voice dialing (25 entries) are provided for and also there is place for 10 voice commands. The commands can be used to invoke 10 menu items according to which they have been synchronized. The voice memo allows storage of 3 minutes of voice storage. A fantastic function really , especially for forgetful people such as me who are always misplacing telephone numbers ; addresses and so on. Now simply record and later store in a more permanent place rather then a slip of paper.

The Nokia 6585 also allows the user access to wireless internet. Another feature is the FM radio, which has been built into the phone. The user simply requires the handset and he's alls set to listen to the music stations on the air. Many people like to carry around a small FM radio along with their cell phones, the 5685 does away with the need to carry an extra device.

A very nice handset which is the right choice for anyone , right from the teenager who wants a cool & trendy cell to the working guy who needs a handset with a good storage capacity and a sufficient number of features.
